OCTO grows!

Hello from Orkney!

Greetings from the mysterious isles of Orkney! My name is Fidra. My namesake is also an island, in the much more southerly waters of the Firth of Forth. Like my namesake, I am not Orcadian. I grew up in the scenic hills of Perthshire and recently arrived on Orkney’s shores to work for OCTO as their Graduate Travel Development Coordinator.

What?

I’m helping the Orkney Community Transport Organisation build their online presence, plan exciting tours and support their work any way I can!

I am excited to work for OCTO as I feel they play a valuable role in the local community. This is due to OCTO being a community interest company, meaning that their profits support the charity – Orkney Disability Forum. I am looking forward to learning more about the work of ODF too.

In addition to local bus services, OCTO also provides high quality tourist excursions  as Orkney Heritage Tours. The profits made from these tours go directly to the Orkney Disability Forum. I love exploring and so am thrilled to be involved with this aspect of the company too.

For the next wee while I’ll be updating the wider world on my experiences and what I learn about Orkney as I go. Watch this space!
